Incident followed carjacking attempt at Galleria
Last night two armed men robbed two Brentwood Forest residents at gunpoint, stole their car, rammed another car on Wrenwood Lane and led police on a chase to North St. Louis County, where they crashed the vehicle and fled, said Brentwood Police.
The suspects apparently came to Brentwood soon after botching an attempt to steal a vehicle from the parking garage at the St. Louis Galleria shopping mall. As of this morning, March 31, the suspects had not been captured.
This morning Brentwood Chief of Police Dan Fitzgerald wrote about the incident in his blog, as follows:
Robbery on Brentwood Forest
Posted on March 31, 2016
Last evening, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Richmond Heights reported an attempted carjacking in the garage at the Galleria. Suspects were last seen running from the garage, after they could not drive the vehicle because it had a manual transmission.
A Brentwood officer observed two of the suspects on the parking lot at Brentwood Square. When the suspects saw the officer, they ran west into the Brentwood Forest area. A few minutes later, another Brentwood officer observed the suspects driving a white Jeep Cherokee, on East Swan Circle, at a high rate of speed. The vehicle had been taken in the 1400 block of Bluebird Terrace. The victims had returned home when they were approached by two men, who demanded the woman’s purse and keys to the car. Both suspects were armed. The victims both complied and the suspects left with the vehicle. The victims were not injured.
The suspects purposely rammed a Brentwood vehicle on Wrenwood Lane, and proceeded south on Brentwood Blvd. A long pursuit of the vehicle by several different agencies ended with a crash at Natural Bridge Avenue and Clara Avenue. Both suspects fled the scene.
Brentwood and Richmond Heights detectives are investigating the incident.
