Brentwood Mayor Chris Thornton has announced he is appointing Brandon Wegge to replace Keith Slusser as a Ward 2 alderman. The Board of Aldermen will hold a special meeting to discuss and vote on the appointment at 7 p.m. June 6 at City Hall.
At the May 16 board meeting, Slusser announced he would resign his position starting June 3 because he was moving to a different Brentwood ward. He served about half of his two-year term.
Thornton notified The Brentwood Spirit of his appointment on June 2. He wrote, “Mr. Wegge is a long time resident of Ward 2 and in 2011 ran against Alderman Lee Wynn losing by only four votes. I am confident he is well respected by the citizens of Ward 2 and will do a very good job of representing them for the remainder of Alderman Slusser’s term.”
Last May Thornton reappointed Wegge to a five-year term on the Brentwood Board of Adjustment.
Wegge, 41, is a senior manager at Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security business unit. He leads the Tactical Aircraft and Weapons Support Engineering group on projects related to military aircraft. He has been awarded two patents at Boeing, where he has worked for more than 19 years.
In 2014 he was named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s annual “40 under 40” list, an award that goes to 40 “local business leaders who we think will grace the cover of our publication in the near future.”
Wegge grew up in St. Louis and received degrees from Princeton University, Washington University of St. Louis and Saint Louis University.
