McGrath Elementary School students enjoyed an afternoon playing outdoors at their annual field day on Friday, May 13.
All classes from kindergarten through fifth grade streamed to the playground at 12:30 and spent the rest of the school day enjoying a dozen activities organized by the students’ fathers. A teacher and his or her class would spend about 15 minutes on each activity before rotating to the next one.
“Field day is right up there with Christmas and Halloween for these kids,” said one of the fathers, Brentwood Mayor Chris Thornton.
Also on hand, once again, was entertainer Penny Pop. She’s rightly named because she played pop music through a PA system and handed out Popsicles. She also let students take turns singing along through a microphone.
