Brentwood High School senior Victoria Aunger has signed a letter of intent to attend McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill., where she’ll receive a scholarship to be in the school’s color guard. A ceremonial signing was held at BHS on May 11.
Aunger is the third member of the BHS winter color guard in the past four years to sign a letter of intent to join the color guard at McKendree, located in Lebanon, Ill. Mariah Logan signed as a BHS senior in 2013 and Gabrielle Zoellner in 2014.
“I hope it’s going to be a longstanding Brentwood connection, because the kids we’ve gotten here have been great so far,” said David Boggs, McKendree’s director of athletic events.

Brentwood’s color guard each year performs an intricate dance routine with flags, rifles and sabers.
McKendree, 50 miles northeast of Brentwood, is a private university with around 3,000 students. The school’s website states that it offers $3,000 scholarships to “students who participate in the fall Marching Bearcat Band Color Guard and the Avidity Independent of McKendree Winter Guard.”
Logan, now a senior, is a member of the Avidity group. She majors in psychology, minors in sports psychology and plans to attend graduate school to earn a master’s degree in expressive arts therapy. To read a feature article about her on the McKendree website, click here.
