Carnival games, a silent auction and a cookout drew a crowd of students and their families to Mark Twain Elementary School’s annual spring picnic on Saturday, April 23.
About a dozen games were set up in the gym and face and arm painting artists served a line of students in the hallway. The auction, held in the cafeteria, raised about $5,000 for the school’s PTO. The cookout was in the school’s front yard.
Employees from St. Louis Children’s Hospital were on hand to conduct safety checks of students’ bicycle helmets, sell new helmets for $11 and provide custom fitting. A sign at the table advised, “Parents should teacher their children, ‘No helmet, no bike.’”
