The Brentwood High School wrestling team Saturday brought home four fourth-place medals from the Lathrop Invitational, a 17-school event near the Kansas City area.

Leading the Eagles to a ninth-place team finish were fourth-place winners Chase Lynch at 126 pounds, Narvell Jordan at 138, Justin Shipley at 182 and Richard McQuay at 285. For Lynch and Shipley it was an improvement from last year when they finished fifth and ninth at the meet.

Justin Harris didn’t compete at Lathrop last year but on Saturday he went 3-2 and captured fifth place. All three wins were pins and one of his losses was a close decision.

Joseph Dreyer’s eighth place is an improvement on last year when he took 12th.

The tournament attracted seven schools that finished in the top 18 in the 2015 Class 1 state meet. The tough competition was especially evident at 145 and 152, where Gary Silerio and Deshaun Johnson, 67-13 combined, placed no higher than fifth and eighth.
