MetroLink and MetroBus riders will soon have a shorter walk from the I-64 MetroLink Station to the Dierbergs Market at Brentwood Pointe retail center on Eager Road.

Construction began July 27 on a new walkway that will more directly link the Metro Transit station with the shopping center.

Currently Metro Transit riders must traverse a long sidewalk south to reach Brentwood Pointe. The sidewalk goes almost 100 yards south of the shopping center, forcing pedestrians to then double back that distance to reach Brentwood Pointe. The new walkway will be more direct.

On July 27 a MetroLink passenger saw a worker from RV Wagner removing fence sections where the new walkway will be constructed. After asking the worker what he was doing and finding out about the project, the passenger smiled and shouted, “Yes, we need that.”

The project is expected to be completed in about two months. It is funded by the Hanley Road Corridor Transportation Development District.
