Father Kevin McKenzie, ordained as a priest in December, celebrated his first Mass on March 30 at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, his home parish.

McKenzie was baptized and received his first Holy Communion at Saint Mary Magdalen. He is the son of longtime parishioners William and Theresa McKenzie.

McKenzie was ordained a priest for the Legionaries of Christ at St. John Lateran Basilica in Rome. He is a chaplain at Royalmont Academy in Cincinnati, a private, Catholic school for students in pre-kindergarten up through the eighth grade.

After the Mass, a reception was held in the school gym in his honor.

All those who attended the Mass had the opportunity to receive a special plenary indulgence granted by Pope Francis for the occasion.
