St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church has placed 50 white crosses in its west lawn today, Jan. 22, to commemorate the approximately 50 million fetuses that have been aborted since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to allow abortions 41 years ago today. The court passed down its Roe vs. Wade decision on Jan. 22, 1973.

The church will hold a special “pro-life mass” at 7 p.m. tonight. The parish’s pastor, the Rev. Jack Siefert, wrote in the church’s Jan. 19 bulletin that the mass will be “to pray for children, women, families and society.”

In a tweet to parishioners today, Siefert wrote, “Pray for the sad anniversary of Roe v. Wade.”
